One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming...

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.

If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

  • Worth the $10 and then some

I rarely write reviews. Why should anyone care about someone else’s opinion about something like how a book hits you, when that is deeply personal? That said. This book is perfect. Not a thing I would change after getting to know the characters. If you hate rom coms, you’re looking at books in the wrong section. If you love a great rom com, with laughs peppering a deeper narrative, you won’t regret this purchase.

I’m newer to the romance genre and this book had me laughing, crying and wishing I could read it for the first time as soon as I finished the last page. Run, don’t walk to read this book.

10/10 recommend! This book will transport you to another world. You’ll quickly be caught up in believing that you’re actually living inside this book! The sweetest story - Emily Henry has the most incredible way with words. A little bit of a slow start, but keep at it because you are in for a treat! You will read the last page of this book with the fullest heart. Definitely a book worth reading more than once!

Sisters who’ve had such a close life together yet a lot of adversity go on a random trip together to NC from NYC. While there they learn things about one another and themselves that are so relatable and endearing and inspiring. Lovely easy read.

  • Must read !!!!

Another must read by Emily Henry! I absolutely love that Nora knows and accepts herself and doesn’t try to change for anyone! What a leading lady 👏🏻. There’s fantastic banter between Charlie and Nora including their text threads about never wanting the book they were editing to end. I never wanted this book to end! To quote Emily “there are some books you don’t read so much as live” and I totally felt that in these pages!! This may be an unpopular opinion but I didn’t love Libby…
